I know I know, another "bungie please" post, but I think many of you will agree.
My one and only hope for Destiny 2 is that Bungie does what Gearbox did from Borderlands to Borderlands 2.
Those of you that played those games in order of release know exactly what I'm talking about, those of you that haven't, I'll explain (or at least attempt to, I'm kind of an idiot.)
Borderlands was an excellent game, it had issues, sure–some not unlike Destiny (ie. the story was kind of lacking, not enough variety in classes, enemies, locations, etc.), but it was still a fun and engaging RPG/FPS that kept me coming back to max all of my characters. Great game. Just like Destiny, a game we've all sunk more hours into than we'd like to admit in certain circles (this circle is safe, 2300 hours for me, and I know I'm on the low end of that particular spectrum.)
Then came Borderlands 2. Gearbox took every little thing that made Borderlands enjoyable, and either perfected it or made it into something even better than what came before. The world was more dense and varied, the characters were deeper, skills and weapons had more variety, the story (oh god–the story!)…it was nearly perfect. Not to say they didn't have a slight misstep with The Pre-Sequel (and I know a lot of people loved it, but come on, it was nowhere near as good!), but they still did such a good job with the sequel. Hell, the main villain was so memorable that Handsome Jack is still most people's favorite character of the series.
I know that many will argue that Destiny and Borderlands are in classes of their own for the most part, but they're still very comparable in many ways. They're both awesome shoot and loot RPGs at their core.
So here goes:
Please Bungie, for the sake of all things, take a note from Gearbox and Randy Pitchford, and shoot for the damn moon! We all know the potential hasn't been reached for this game, and we all believe that this new game can set the bar higher than it's ever been!
Okay, I'll stop. Thanks for reading!
TL;DR: I hope Destiny 2 is as good of a jump as Borderlands 2 was.
