And holy shit was it fun.
During my first HZD playthrough, I rushed through because I was so interested in the story. I didn't take much time to explore, I just rushed between bits of the story. So when I was about halfway through, I realized that I was missing a lot. At the time, my wife was watching a lot of vegan and vegetarian youtubers, so I thought it'd be really interesting to play vegetarian Aloy.
In my mind, since she couldn't have human companionship (outside of Rost), she found herself relying on animals for friendship. Once she found out that hunting meant hurting them, she found her own ways to survive, using herbs and other vegetation.
My rules for this playthrough were: No items which use animal products (no health potions or fast travel packs) No inventory expansions which use animal products No mounts (mostly for the exploration aspect) Must play on Very Hard throughout
I'm not usually the type to play a game to death and I didn't expect to have so much fun with HZD that I'd want to do something like this. I saw a gif of the game on Reddit and picked it up on a whim. I was really challenged by this playthrough, I had a lot of fun, and I thought I'd share it for anyone else who wanted to give it a shot.
