Become Legend: Weekly Guide Special Iron Banner Edition (Nightfall/Heroics/Shaxx/Iron Banner/T12 Info)

Intro

This a special edition of Become Legend: Weekly Guides that includes information from Iron Banner. Weekly events are summaries and suggestions that might not seem obvious, Iron Banner recommendations are in-depth for the week.

Nightfall – Fallen S.A.B.E.R.

Modifiers

  • Epic
  • Brawler
  • Grounded
  • Chaff
  • Fresh Troops

These modifiers aren’t the worst thing that could happen, it just means you can’t jump as much. Bladedancer and Sunbreakers using Suncharge should notice good use of their Super. Outside of that, there aren’t many recommendations because you can really do whatever you want as nothing really benefits you more than normal for a strike. Just don’t be that guy running Keen Scout on Nightstalker.

SIVA Crisis Heroic

Modifiers

  • Heroic
  • Void Burn
  • Brawler
  • Ironclad

Now we’re talking, Void Burn means one thing… that you’re going to use Void for all the things. Voiwalker is the obvious choice for having fun, but Nightstalker and Defender should fair equally as well. Explosive Rounds weapons are good for shredding shielded enemies, a great counter to Ironclad. Try a Void Sniper Rifle and dare I say… Nova Mortis?

Shaxx Bounty – A Hunt for Glory

Objectives:

  • Complete 7 Matches
  • 50 Primary Kills
  • 30 Kill Credit
  • 20 Crests Denied

Supremacy is built around CQC (close-quarters combat) and that warrants a lot of Shotgun play… but these got the nerfbat! Use a Hand Cannon to help combat some of the rushers and players wielding their Pulse Rifles/Auto Rifles, you’ll succeed much more at a short-mid range this way and can also collect crests. Sidearms are going to be popular so you can use that and a Pulse/Auto to compliment your own build, a Machine Gun with a good roll can go a long way here too. The most important facet of Supremacy is sticking with your teammates. Most versions of 6v6 game play promote this but it’s much more important in Supremacy because if your teammate dies you can deny the crest. Collecting crests is the second most important thing here, but that doesn’t mean get reckless and sacrifice yourself to nab one.

Shutdown supers work well (Voidwalker and Striker) but you’ll probably see a lot of success with a well-timed roaming super (Bladedancer, Stormcaller, Sunbreaker). Be smart when using your super and you’ll score very well, it’s easy to nab 2-3 kills per super use and score 6 points for the team.

Weekly Elite Bounties

With The Dawning comes some new bounties for strikes to accompany their recent changes. These bounties may be picked up from Zavala.

  • Strike Elite: Earn 9 Medals in Strikes (Bronze/Silver/Gold Tier)
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Armor, Legendary Marks +10
  • Sunrise: Earn a Gold Tier Achieve Medal in the Nightfall before time expires.
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Weapon, Legendary Marks +10
  • Merciless: Get 9 rapid enemy kills to earn “Rampage” Medals in SIVA Crisis Strikes.
    • Rewards: 10000 EXP, Vanguard Rep +200, Legendary Armor, Legendary Marks +10

Merciless is best done while in a fireteam, there are a few good areas to “farm” these medals if you can get these strikes:

  • At the beginning of the Nexus Mind strike you can kill the enemies in the Ishtar Commons as they spawn incredibly fast.
  • During the Sunless Cell strike, just before the boss room is the bridge full of Thrall. You can nab 2-3 medals here then wipe to reset the enemies.

This week you can get The Laughing Heart (Sniper Rifle) or The Lingering Song (Hand Cannon). Roll recommendations are from the wonderful /u/Mercules904.

The Lingering Song

Pros – Possibility of killing very low armor players with 2 crit shots and a TtK of 0.50s. Very high range. Above average recoil direction.

Neutral – None.

Cons – Very low stability and reload speed. Low equip speed. Below average mag size and aim assist.

  • Time-to-Kill: 1.00s (1 crit and 2 body shots), 1.50s (4 body shots)
  • Rate of Fire: 15
  • Impact: 94 (95 damage per crit shot, 64 damage per body shot)
  • Range: 46
  • Stability: 24
  • Reload Speed: 32
  • Mag Size: 8
  • Aim Assist: 63
  • Equip Speed: 37
  • Recoil Direction: 92

Recommended PvP Perks:

  • Column 1 – Iron Lordly Sights
  • Column 2 – Braced Frame, Smallbore, Hammer Forged, Rifled Barrel
  • Column 3 – Feather Mag, Explosive Rounds, High Caliber Rounds, Quickdraw, Single Point Sling
  • Column 4 – Luck in the Chamber, Rangefinder, Hidden Hand, Third Eye, Firefly

Recommended PvE Perks:

  • Column 1 – Iron Lordly Sights
  • Column 2 – Hammer Forged
  • Column 3 – Explosive Rounds, High Caliber Rounds, Quickdraw, Single Point Sling
  • Column 4 – Firefly, Rangefinder, Hidden Hand, Third Eye

A definite niche weapon, The Lingering Song boasts the ability to kill very low armor Guardians in PvP with 2 crit shots, something only two other year three legendary hand cannons can do. Still, that’s not enough to really warrant it’s use, because you won’t be running into people foolish enough to use minimum armor that often. That being said, it has one roll in particular that is outstanding for PvP, and that’s the combination of Braced Frame, Feather Mag, and Luck in the Chamber. The first two perks drop the mag size down to 4, which means LitC has a very, very high chance of activating during engagements, which mans you’ll be two-tapping people left and right. As far as the sights go, Iron Lordly boosts aim assist, and The Lingering Song doesn’t really have a lot of it, so you’ll want that.

For PvE, same sight choice, but we’re going to go with Hammer Forged, mostly since you don’t need to hit the range cap as much outside of the Crucible, and Reinforced and Rifled both hurt already low stats values for stability and reload speed. Explosive Rounds would probably be the best choice in column three, followed by either Firefly or Rangefinder in the last slot. Remember that Firefly and Explosive Rounds can interfere which each other, as the explosive damage from ER will not count as a crit shot for FF.

Sniper Rifle

Mid-Impact

The Laughing Heart

Pros – Can Revive Snipe. High stability. Above average reload speed and aim assist.

Neutral – Average mag size, inventory, and equip speed.

Cons – Can’t Super Snipe. Below average range.

  • Time-Between-Shots: 0.68s
  • Rate of Fire: 26
  • Impact: 22 (334 damage per crit shot, 134 per body shot)
  • Range: 70
  • Stability: 52
  • Reload Speed: 68
  • Mag Size: 4
  • Aim Assist: 63
  • Inventory: 49
  • Equip Speed: 52

Recommended PvP Perks:

  • Column 1 – Linear Compensator
  • Column 2 – Injection Mold, Braced Frame, Hand-laid Stock, Perfect Balance, Smallbore
  • Column 3 – Quickdraw, Snapshot, Single Point Sling
  • Column 4 – Hidden Hand, Unflinching, Life Support, Spray and Play

Recommended PvE Perks:

  • Column 1 – Linear Compensator
  • Column 2 – Braced Frame, Hand-laid Stock, Perfect Balance, Injection Mold, Smallbore
  • Column 3 – Quickdraw, Snapshot, Single Point Sling
  • Column 4 – Triple Tap, Firefly, Grenadier, Army of One

Excellent stats for this gun may help to boost it to prominence, but it comes from a mostly underutilized sniper archetype. Boasting an excellent low zoom scope, it’s one of the few snipers in the game that can roll both Injection Mold and Quickdraw or Snapshot, for those people who want the highest levels of equip and ADS speed. If you’re looking more into taking advantage of the faster two-tap potential, then stability perks will be your best bet, with Braced Frame being the best option due to it not removing any rounds from the mag size. Hand-laid Stock and Perfect Balance are also great choices. In the last slot, Hidden Hand and Unflinching are the two top of the line perks, but Life Support is also very, very good.

For PvE, I wouldn’t really recommend this gun, but you’ll basically want the same thing except with Triple Tap in the last slot.
